In 2022, Stop Soldier Suicide introduced a dedicated research and evaluation team (R&E), staffed by a team with decades of combined experience in suicide prevention research. This team plays a critical role in helping us better understand the effectiveness of our programs, evaluate outcomes, and identify opportunities to strengthen the care and support we provide to veterans and service members nationwide.
Our commitment to research is rooted in a larger belief: meaningful progress in suicide prevention requires both compassion and evidence. In addition to evaluating our own work, our team helps advance broader conversations around prevention through innovative research and emerging insights focused on upstream, life-saving solutions.
At Stop Soldier Suicide, we believe veterans and service members deserve care that is not only compassionate, but evidence-based. Saving lives requires more than good intentions—it requires approaches grounded in research, outcomes, and a commitment to continually learning and improving.
Our annual Program Evaluation is an extension of that belief. It helps us better understand the needs, experiences, and challenges facing the individuals we serve, while also ensuring we remain accountable to delivering care that is effective, responsive, and rooted in measurable impact.
